Roter Platz (Red Square), 2008

mixed madia
300 x 150 x 150 cm
with carpet 600 x 500 cm

A carillon of San Basil’s Cathedral on the Red Square in Moscow rebuilt in a size in between the real architecture and the small souvenir for tourists. While it rotates, a music of the russian hymn melody plays and on the its top a “socialist” star lights. In this work I elaborate in an ironical way my nostalgic feeling to Russia: I still feel my strong link to Russia, but going back there after 13 years I am living in Germany I am one of the many tourists, so “my” souvenir is transformed and the size increased due to my feelings for the country.
